Black Shark 5 offers three variants, one with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, even with an 888+, and the last one with an 870 chipset, all of which have swum to the surface.
Black Shark 5:
The Snapdragon 870 chipset and two vapor chambers for cooling power the vanilla Black Shark 5. There is no SSD here, just 8/12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 128/256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
The phone has a 6.67″ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 144Hz and a touch sampling rate of 144Hz. Even the shoulder button with a magnet is now available. While the RS has a triple-camera configuration with a 64+13+5MP rear camera, the Selfie camera has a 16MP sensor.
With a 4650 mAh capacity and two charging modes for 120W fast charging, the battery is similar to the Pro. One takes 15 minutes to do the task, while the other is more considerate and requires 24 minutes. It is also possible to bypass the battery.
A starting price of CNY 2,700 ($425/€380/ 32,200) will be offered for the Black Shark 5 in China beginning on April 2. The official website has further information.
Black Shark 5 Pro:
The top-of-the-line Black Shark 5 Pro is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Two vapor chambers (4,323 mm2 + 997 mm2) are used to keep the chip cold. In terms of storage and RAM, the Snapdragon is coupled with as much as 16GB and 512GB, but that’s only the beginning.
256+256 GB On the 512GB variant, the storage is divided evenly between an NVMe SSD and the regular UFS 3.1. Black Shark’s use of the DM Cache technology has resulted in a considerable increase in random read and write speeds. For those times when even faster storage is necessary, the LPDDR5 RAM (6,400 Mbps) may be utilized to build a RAM disk.
The phone’s battery is also powerful. Powered by a 120W charger, it has a 4650mAh capacity. There is a temperature control option that reduces the charging time from 15 minutes to 24 minutes, making it gentler on the battery. In addition, the phone has a battery bypass enabling gaming while connected to external power.
Black Shark 5 Pro has an AMOLED display of 6.67″ HDR10+ and the DCI-P3 color gamut is supported by this 10-bit panel. Since the phone has two sensors for measuring ambient light, the brightness may be tailored to the exact environment.
The display can monitor multiple fingers at a 144Hz refresh rate and a 720Hz touch sampling rate. A gaming-grade micro switch is used in the magnetic shoulder button that comes up on the phone’s side.
The phone comes with two 1.5 cc speakers that are symmetrical in design. The 5 Pro currently maintains the top place in DxOMark’s audio rankings with 86 points (beating its predecessors by 5 points). The X-axis linear motor, on the other hand, delivers a more tactile experience. In order for the phone to hear you well, each of its four sides is equipped with four microphones.
There is a 1/1.52″ sensor, a 108MP primary camera, a 13MP super wide-angle camera (120°), and a 5MP macro lens on the rear (it focuses at a 3-7 cm distance).
At $660/€595/50,000, the Black Shark 5 Pro will be on sale on April 2nd. To be revealed at a later time, this is just for China’s use. If you’d want to join in line, you may pay a CNY 100 deposit here.
Black Shark 5 RS:
The Snapdragon 888 or 888+ chipset is used in the Black Shark 5 RS; the Plus chip is available in the 12/256 GB model. Aside from the processor, the RS has many features with the Pro, such as the use of SSDs and UFS for data storage. Vapor chambers on each side of the processor keep it cool.
With a capacity of 4500mAh, the battery is a little smaller, but it still supports the same 120W charging rate and can reach 100% charge in 15 minutes.
The 6.67-inch AMOLED screen has a maximum brightness of 1,300 nits and supports HDR10 and DCI-P3. Similar to the Pro, this panel has the same 144Hz refresh rate and 720Hz sampling rate. Additionally to that, the magnetic shoulder button is still in place.
Dual speakers (1.5 cc) with Hi-Res Audio and DTS:X Ultra compatibility are available for audio. This one has a 3.5 mm audio jack. There’s a 64MP sensor on the rear, but the 13MP 120° ultra-wide and 5MP tele-macro cameras stay the same.
